Southampton is located centrally on the island of Bermuda, approximately 10km from Downtown Hamilton.
There are plenty of activities to do locally and around the island. Here are a few:
Water Sports
The Fairmont offers a number of water sports, including jet ski and boat rentals, diving, and snorkeling from the Waterlot Dock. Visit Sea Venture Watersports for more information.
Scooter Rentals
Visit Smatt's Cycle Shop located at the Fairmont to rent single- or double-rider scooters. Just remember, the Bermudians drive on the left side of the road!!! We took a few short trips to visit local beaches, Downtown Hamilton, and the Royal Naval Dockyard and it was exhilarating.
Willow Stream Spa
Located at the hotel, visit the immaculate Willow Stream Spa for any spa services.
Walking and Running Trails
The Fairmont Southampton is surrounded by an historic railroad trail and other walking/hiking trails. Take the loop around the property or a hike up to Gibb's lighthouse for active fun. Trail guides will be available at the hotel.
Beaches
Just a walk or a short scooter ride away, visit some of the world's most beautiful pink-sand beaches close to the Fairmont, including: Horseshoe Bay, Marley Beach, Surfside Beach, and Elbow Beach.
Downtown Hamilton
Accessible by the Fairmont's daily ferry to its sister property, Hamilton Princess, or 10km by scooter or taxi, Downtown Hamilton offers many tourist activities. Shopping, dining, historic monuments, and cultural attractions are a few that you can visit. See an interesting Hamilton webpage for more information.
Royal NavAL Dockyard
About 12km from the Fairmont at the most Western point of Bermuda, the historic Royal Naval Dockyard has been transformed into a lovely shopping and dining destination. Visit little shops, the Glassworks, Clayworks, and National Museum for an interesting time in a 200-year old base, which was once Britain's largest naval base outside of the United Kingdom.
Other Attractions
If you have more time on the island, there are plenty of fantastic spots to enjoy, including some on the Northern tip of the island: historic St. George's (a UNESCO world-heritage site) and the Crystal Caves. See tripadvisor and the Fairmont's website for more attractions located throughout Bermuda.
